California Place

Kauffman & Broad (KB Homes) built the California Place neighborhood from 1988 to 1989. California Place is located on the eastern side of Pleasanton, right off West Las Positas Boulevard. It is a single-family home neighborhood, that provides houses that range from $600,000 to about $850,000.
The California Place neighborhood offers three and four-bedroom homes that have floor areas ranging from 1880 sq. ft. to 2260 sq. ft. Lots typically come in 5000 to 6300 sq. ft. and have a garage that can accommodate up to three cars.
California Place is located near Meadows Park where residents can enjoy activities. There is also a quick access to the Meadows Greenbelt, where residents can easily go to the elementary school in the neighborhood. Apart from Meadows Park, there are other parks within the area of California Place. This neighborhood does not have a homeowner’s association.

California Place residents can attend school at the elementary school, middle school and high school near the neighborhood. Fairlands Elementary
Fairlands Elementary caters to students from Kindergarten to fifth grade. The school’s goal is to impart knowledge and skills to the students while encouraging their curiosity, creativity and appreciation for learning new things. Fairlands have an academic program that fits the curricular standards of the state and the district. The core areas of instruction at the school include arts, languages, mathematics, social studies and science. Fairlands Elementary also has other programs such as the Community of Character Initiative and the National Go Green Initiative I order to make the students responsible citizens.
Thomas S. Hart Middle School
Hart Middle School was named after Thomas S. Hart, an assistant superintendent in the Pleasanton Unified School District. The middle school opened in August 2000. The school is committed to creating an environment conducive for learning. Hart Middle School works together with the parents of the students in order to promote academic and social preparedness in today’s times. Their standard-based curriculum promotes the enhancement of academic achievement, organization, responsibility and the self-esteem of each individual. Apart from academics, students can also engage in co-curricular activities through clubs and organizations such as the debate club, ecology club, math counts, leadership, drama club and many more.
Foothill High School
Foothill High School was built in 1973. The school has over 2000 enrollees and is ranked as the 408th school in Newsweek’s 1300 Top US School of 2008. Apart from that recognition, Foothill High School is also a National Blue Ribbon School. Apart from providing academic education, the high school also provides other programs and clubs that will enhance the students’ social skills. There are athletic teams, a school band, music clubs, debate club, math club and many more. Graduating students can seek help from the school’s career center where they can view college catalogs, talk to career counselors and prepare for their college education. Some of the popular graduates of the school include golfer Paula Creamer, actress Gabrielle Union, Keith Millard of the NFL and Olympic team captain for swimming, Kate Hooven.
