Foothill Farms and Muirwood Meadows
Built between 1968 and 1970, homes in the luxurious neighborhood of Foothills Farms in West Pleasanton off Foothill Road have traditional features ideal for simple living. Many of the single-story ranch homes offer magnificent views of Pleasanton Ridge where three- to five-bedroom homes ranging 1300 to 2000 square feet on lots ranging from 6000 to 8000 square feet. Although some homes have views of the ridge, most of the houses stand on on flat lots.
Built by Broadmore/Lusk Homes in 1986, Muirwood Meadows’ two-story houses range in size from 4500 to 6500 square feet in contemporary California style with vaulted ceilings and floor plans with wide open spaces, making these houses ideal for small families with children.
Both Foothill Farms and Muirwood Meadows lie within walking distance of the high school and close to the elementary school, making the neighborhoods popular among families. Resident commuters also have easy access to both I-580 and I-680 as well as the BART. Neither neighborhood has a homeowner’s association.

Lydiksen Elementary School
Lydiksen Elementary School educates students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Built in 1968, today the school educates about 300 enrollees each school year. The success of the elementary school hinges on a joint effort between students’ parents and instructors, and the Parent/Faculty Club aids teachers in providing additional support to students. Apart from academic programs, Lydiksen Elementary School also has campus programs such as the Green Team, Breakfast Book Club, GATE (Gifted and Talented Education), Spanish, science, and Girl and Boy Scouts. Lydiksen Elementary School bases its curriculum on California state and district standards.
Thomas S. Hart Middle School
Thomas S. Hart Middle School opened in August 2000 and received California Distinguished School status just three years later. Hart Middle School provides students with opportunities to grow mentally, physically, emotionally and socially both inside and outside the classroom. The middle school sits in Hacienda Business Park, a safe and suitable environment for learning. Students can make use of campus facilities, including a sports field, a 17,000-square foot gymnasium, track, picnic tables and benches. The middle school’s goals include improvement of student achievements and implementation of character education.
Foothill High School
Foothill High School, a National Blue Ribbon School, has received much recognition since its opening in 1973 and today serves approximately 2300 students annually. Foothill High School has a rigorous curriculum, and 95% of the student population report they get the education they need in order to succeed in their lives’ goals. Apart from academics, the high school also offers 22 athletic sports programs and 35 clubs. Because of this, more than 80% of the students engage in co-curricular activities to improve their skills, talents and abilities.
