Highland Oaks
Its homes built between 1965 and 1969, the Highland Oaks neighborhood sits off Foothill Road in West Pleasanton. Lydiksen Elementary School
Lydiksen Elementary School, built in 1968, serves 300 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The curriculum at Lydiksen follows California state and district standards. Apart from academic programs, the elementary also offers special programs to improve students’ skills and talents and foster their interests, including Spanish, spectrum of science, Girl and Boy Scouts, the Green Team and GATE, (Gifted and Talented Education).
Hart Middle School
Thomas S. Hart Elementary School has California Distinguished School status and offers state-of-the-art facilities as well as both in-class and out-of-class opportunities for student learning and growth. The school sits in Hacienda Business Park, offering a safe environment since it first opened its doors in August 2000. Hart Middle School’s goals include improvement of student achievements, implementation of character education, and honing students’ skills to prepare them for future challenges. This student-centered community addresses the needs of each student as an individual.
Foothill High School
Foothill High School opened in 1973 and in 2004 and 2006 earned California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon of Excellence status, respectively. Serving about 2300 students, the school offers 35 student clubs and 22 competitive athletic sports programs in addition to its core curriculum that follows state standards. Foothill High School boasts high achievement, as evidenced by its Academic Performance Index (API). With the continued expansion of the school, the institution remains a student-centered school that provides support to all students.
