The Gates
The Gates, comprised of three different neighborhoods from Fort McHenry on the east coast to Sutter’s Fort on the west coast, takes its name from most of the streets in its vicinity that include the word “gate,” such as Laramie Gate Circle, Sutter Gate Avenue and Ross Gate Court. Built by Signature Properties, William Lyon Homes and Woodhill Development respectively, construction of these neighborhoods started in the early 1970s with the last homes built around 1986.
A popular choice for homebuyers, The Gates features a collection of houses with large floor plans, custom paint and spacious lots. This well-kept neighborhood sits conveniently close to Valley Care Hospital and the rest of downtown Pleasanton. Residents enjoy easy access to schools, restaurants, cafes and other shops. Its close proximity to the I-580 and I-680 freeways as well as the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station makes this an ideal address for commuters.
Sutter Gate Park on the north and Pleasanton Sports Park on the west border The Gates, which you can also access from Santa Rita Road to the east. Its key selling feature remains its close proximity to the sports park and Sutter Gate Park. Both community amenities offer recreational opportunities to residents of The Gates. The 106-acre Pleasanton Sports Park serves as an ideal place for families with athletic kids with its walking paths, two football fields, 11 soccer fields and softball fields. Another major incentive for buyers lies in Sutter Gate Park, which is within walking distance of the neighborhood.
